The Team Ireland Foundation brought members of the Olympic community together at The K Club for an evening centred on athlete voices, sharing the lived experiences behind every Olympic journey.
Hosted by Olympian David Gillick, the evening featured candid conversations with athletes who shared the experiences, challenges and commitments that shape life at the highest level of sport.

Demands, Challenges and Resilience
The first session featured brothers Nathan and Olympic Champion Daniel Wiffen, who spoke about their progression in elite sport. Reflecting on their journeys, they highlighted how fine margins shape performance at the highest level, as well as the day-to-day commitment required to compete internationally.
A second panel brought together Olympic Bronze Medallist Philip Doyle, boxing Olympian Gráinne Walsh and hockey Olympian Katie Mullan. In an open discussion, they shared the realities of life as elite athletes, including the demands of training, the challenges beyond competition, and the resilience required to stay on track over time.
Across both conversations, the emphasis was on honesty and perspective. The athletes offered a deeper understanding of what it takes to compete on the world stage, moving beyond results to the everyday experiences that define high-performance sport.

Reflection
The evening also included a moment of reflection, as those in attendance remembered Olympians Ciarán Ó Lionáird and Gerry O’Reilly, acknowledging their contribution to the wider Team Ireland community.
Together, the evening brought the athlete journey into sharper focus, underlining the role of the Team Ireland Foundation in keeping those stories front and centre and in maintaining a consistent connection between athletes and the community that supports them.
